Despite classes being canceled nationwide, schools and non-profits are continuing to fulfil their mission of meeting the needs of those who need it most.   GENYOUth, a national nonprofit dedicated to offering tools and resources to schools to increase access to healthy foods and physical activity is taking on a new effort to offer grants to schools to enable them to continue to deliver and distribute nutritious food to their students, many of whom experience food insecurity.

This week, GENYOUth launched the COVID-19 Emergency School Nutrition Fund – a new grant program to assist schools nationwide as they strive to provide nutritious meals to students during the COVID-19 crisis.  Alexis Glick, CEO of GENYOUth, stated "I cannot underscore how critical the need is right now for the 30 million kids who rely on school meals. The demands are urgent, increasing daily, and time-sensitive to support our front-line school nutrition workers as they feed our nation's students."

The beverage industry continues to work hard and is joining forces again with GENYOUth and all those working to ensure students from coast to coast are receiving the vital nutrition they need.  The American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America remains focused on supporting community-based efforts to improve the physical and environmental health of our nation. Our history of partnering with GenYOUth on programmatic efforts to support and enrich our nation’s youth continue to keep us connected.  This week, the American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America donated to the COVID-19 Emergency School Nutrition Fund to assist GenYOUth in meeting their mission of ensuring schools have the critical resources needed to feed students during this emergency.
