Balance Calories community partner Bed Stuy Campaign Against Hunger (BSCAH) is doing more than just making sure families have access to nutritional meals, they are also helping families in the community prepare their tax returns.
As of 2018, BSCAH has been feeding thousands of people every week in the Brooklyn community in more ways than one. BSCAH offers what are known as 'wrap around services' which include hosting cooking and nutrition classes at their center, pairing youth and elderly neighbors together to work on projects and preparing taxes all at no cost to community members. Their good work was celebrated last month in Metro Weekly. Founder Dr. Melony Samuels says she has added these services over the years because it's what the community needed - "food is not enough to support someone, they need a lot more and we are here to help." In order to offer year round support to the Brooklyn community, BSCAH fundraises all year long. Their next signature Spring fundraiser is The Planters Awards for community and corporate leadership and will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 8, click here for more information.
The American Beverage Association is a proud supporter of BSCAH and their efforts to cure hunger in Brooklyn.
