It’s that time of year again, when we gather around the table with friends and loved ones and count our blessings.
This tradition is in commemoration of a story of generosity and gratitude to the Wampanoag Indians who helped the Plymouth Pilgrims through starvation and other difficulties in 1621. The days of Thanksgiving were initially celebrated by individual colonies and states until President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed in 1863 a national Thanksgiving Day to be held in November. In 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed a bill to officially make Thanksgiving the fourth Thursday in November.
We wish you and your family a happy and safe Thanksgiving and hope you join in the spirit of giving thanks that inspired this holiday.
