Yesterday, the First Family hosted the 135th Annual Easter Egg Roll on the south lawn of the White House. The Obamas welcomed families and guests including Robbie Novak (YouTube sensation “Kid President”), celebrity chefs, athletes, yogis and musicians.   This year’s theme was a twist on the conventional Egg Roll games, expanding the activity with a full-on “Eggtivity Zone,” where the younger guests found fun ways to be active, inspired by the First Lady’s “Let’s Move!” initiative.

Under sunny skies, coaches and players from professional sports teams, including our very own Washington Wizards, showed kids how easy and fun it is to play sports and stay active - like running through an obstacle course.  Even NASCAR driver Danica Patrick paid a visit to twist and turn with the young participants in the Lululemon yoga garden.  It was apparently clear that the “Let’s Move!” initiative is playing an important role to combat childhood obesity by motivating children to be physically active.

In support of the First Lady’s campaign, America’s beverage companies voluntarily placed clear calorie information on the front of every bottle, can and pack they produce, making it easier for parents – and all consumers – to choose the beverage that is right for them and their families. The beverage industry has a longstanding commitment to our nation’s children, and we are proud to be doing our part to help reduce childhood obesity.  To learn more about how the beverage industry is delivering initiatives that will have a lasting, positive impact in communities nationwide, visit www.deliveringchoices.org.
