In the first round of the tournament ninth-seeded University of Northern Iowa bested sixth-seeded University of Texas with a spectacular last second shot from half court.

Middle Tennessee State Stuns Michigan State
Conference USA champion and 15th-seed Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders shattered Michigan State’s dreams for a 2016 title in the first round of the tournament. The 90-81 upset was the first time a team that had been ranked No. 1 during the regular season was defeated during the opening round of the tournament.

University of Arkansas at Little Rock Double OT Win Over Purdue
With seconds left, University of Arkansas at Little Rock buried a 3-pointer to tie Purdue and send the game into overtime. The 12th-seeded Arkansas team went on to prevail 85-83 over the fifth-seeded Purdue in double overtime.

Hawaii Gains First-Ever NCAA Tourney Win
The 13th-seeded Hawaii Rainbow Warriors shocked the No. 4 seed California Golden Bears with a resounding 77-66 victory in the opening round. Hawaii maintained its lead over the Golden Bears for 32 minutes of the game, bringing home the program’s first March Madness win.

Iowa Prevails with an Overtime Tip-In
Iowa toppled Temple with a tip-in just as the buzzer sounded in overtime. After a neck and neck battle, the final score was 72-70, Hawkeyes.
