In Minnesota, our industry has been committed to increasing recycling at the state fair by providing funds for more clearly-labeled recycling bins throughout the fairgrounds. These bins have been instrumental in increasing recycling at the state fair, the largest in the country at over 2 million visitors each year.
Chris Leach, operations director of the state fair, credited the American Beverage Association with increasing recycling containers at the fair by nearly 50 percent and estimated an, “increased collection of nearly 400,000 bottles and plastic cups over the course of the fair, increasing plastic and glass recycling by 22 percent.”
The Minnesota Beverage Association’s partnership with the state fair has allowed Minnesotans to continue to enjoy the event with their families while looking after the land that is the perfect backdrop for this yearly event.
