America’s beverage companies are finding new ways to innovate and increase choices available for consumers.  With the increase in availability of smaller-portion sizes and low-calorie beverage options, calories in the American diet from added sugars in soda have declined by 39 percent since 2000.  And according to a recent data brief from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), food is the number one source of added sugars for children and teens – not sugar-sweetened beverages.
