This summer, the Minnesota Beverage Association partnered with the Minnesota State Fair Foundation to do their part to encourage recycling at the state’s premier event. Together they were able to bring more than 200 additional recycling bins to help manage waste at the fair which sees more than two million attendees over the course of 12 days.

These bins were placed throughout the fair to encourage recycling at Minnesota’s largest annual event. The fair originally had 1,500 waste containers, but only 380 were recycling bins. According to data from previous fairs, when a waste bin is not accompanied by a recycling bin about 80 percent of the material that is thrown away is actually recyclable. However, this number drops when the waste bin is accompanied by a recycling bin.

It is through partnerships like this that we can have a real and lasting impact on our environment.
