Tomorrow people around the globe will be ringing in 2016 with fanfare and fun. The most famous New Year’s Eve celebration is the crystal ball drop in New York City, but that’s not the only thing that will be descending from the sky as we usher in 2016. Cities and towns across the nation have their own unique New Year’s traditions.

In Mobile, Ala., the home of the original Mardi Gras, the New Year is celebrated by lowering a 600-pound electric MoonPie and eating the world’s largest edible MoonPie.

Boise, Idaho, drops a 17-foot illuminated potato in honor of the state’s most well-known crop.

If you are in Plymouth, Wis., you will see an 80-pound wedge of cheese falling from the sky.

And in Lebanon, Pa., the town pays homage to its favorite meat by dropping 200 pounds of bologna.
