There is good news for those who want to enjoy a treat without the calories. A recent study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reaffirms that low-calorie beverages can play a role in the overall diet.

The researchers found that there is no link between the consumption of diet beverages and increased preferences for sweetened foods and beverages.  This confirms that diet beverages can be an important tool in helping reduce calories and directly counters the illogical assertion that drinking diet beverages causes people to eat more or to want other sweets.

Our industry offers consumers a wide range of beverage options, many of which are low- or no-calorie.  In fact, about 45 percent of all non-alcoholic beverages purchased today have zero calories.  Check out DeliveringChoices.org for more information.
