For schoolchildren across America, winter break is coming to an end as they begin to head back to the classroom. While it may not be the beginning of a new school year, there’s always an adjustment as students return to the school environment. That’s why we want to remind you about how we’re supporting parents through the range of beverage options our member companies make available in schools.
Through our national School Beverage Guidelines, we removed full-calorie soft drinks from all schools and replaced them with more lower-calorie and smaller-portion options – cutting calories shipped to schools by 90 percent. In fact, these guidelines formed the basis of the beverage component of U.S.D.A.’s regulations for foods and beverages sold in schools, which went into effect last summer.
