As we celebrate America's Independence Day, we here at Sip and Savor are reminded that the greatest experiment in democracy had its earliest origins over an unfair and discriminatory beverage tax -- on tea. Colonists tired of paying a high import duty tossed chests of tea overboard from ships docked in the Boston Harbor.  This act of defiance led to a crackdown on colonial resistance through the Coercive Acts of 1774 -- increasing tensions which eventually led to the American Revolution.

We now have more options than ever before when it comes to beverages and we value the freedom to choose the beverage that's right for our families. Today, we remember the brave colonists who took a stand almost 250 years ago and celebrate the birth of our great nation. Happy Independence Day!
