This Earth Month, we’re celebrating some of the ways America’s beverage companies are innovating to create sustainable solutions for our planet. Here are some of the ways our industry is working towards a healthier, cleaner and more sustainable planet:
- Partnering with World Wildlife Fund to measure and reduce the beverage industry’s plastic footprint. Our plastic bottles are 100% recyclable and if recycled can be used to make new bottles. We’re increasing awareness about our plastic bottles through our latest “Back to One” education campaign so we can get more bottles back and out of the environment.
- Investing in recycling programs in communities across the country to improve recycling access, modernize recycling infrastructure and help people recycle better. Through our Every Bottle Back initiative, we’ve committed $10 million in 11 community recycling projects that will yield an estimated 644 million new pounds of recycled PET over 10 years.
- Developing efficient water saving technologies and working with conservation groups to restore and protect key watersheds across the US. These efforts have put us on pace to improve our water conservation rate by double digits.
- Working to reduce emissions by expanding our use of hybrid and electric vehicles. Our fleets now boast the largest number of heavy-duty hybrid electric commercial trucks on the road, which has helped us reduce CO2 emissions by up to 30% per vehicle.
