Today ABA's President and CEO Susan Neely joined U.S. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Tom Donohue and other industry leaders at a press conference to discuss the importance of modernizing our nation's infrastructure.
"A modernized infrastructure is crucial to keeping our economy moving and it is vital to the beverage industry," said Neely. "It is vital because we are American companies making American products by American workers in America's hometowns. What do we mean by that? The best way to make a great tasting Coke, Pepsi, Dr Pepper is to make it locally. And many of the local jobs our industry provides rely on good roads and bridges to bring the hundreds of brands we produce to market every day."
With close to 240,000 jobs provided by America's beverage companies, a strong infrastructure not only allows for our products to get to consumers reliably and efficiently, it helps working families sustain these jobs.
As always, we continue to keep environmental sustainability at the core of our business by expanding the use of hybrid vehicles or replacing vehicles with intermodal transportation. We can have a strong infrastructure that creates jobs, promotes efficiency and protects the environment.
