Last week the American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America (ABFHA) and the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) announced the 2016 recipients of The Childhood Obesity Prevention Awards. Six cities were awarded grants in support of their mayors' efforts to fight childhood obesity in their communities.

First place for a medium size city went to Fontana, Calif., Mayor Acquanetta Warren for her “Healthy Kids for a Healthy Fontana” program. The program rotates to different schools in the city each day and provides hands on experience for children about choosing foods and beverages that can help them achieve a balanced lifestyle.

Mayor Warren gave thanks to the USCM and ABFHA saying, “by improving the quality of life for our children you’re creating the future that we need in this community.”
