In today's Honolulu Star Advertiser, David Shapiro writes about Governor Abercrombie and his campaign promise not to raise taxes – a promise he should be keeping.

Working through the budget, Abercrombie assured voters throughout his campaign that he would "achieve more with less." Now, according to Shapiro, he’s backtracking and tax proposals have returned to the table.

Hawaii's budget issue is a serious problem that deserves immediate attention, but raising taxes is not the answer.  The economy has left many families and businesses stretched thin.  Governor Abercrombie should stick to his promise of reigning in spending and reallocating funds.

As Shapiro explains, it is important to hold our elected officials accountable and Governor Abercrombie should keep with his plan of doing more with less.
