If you’re like some of us at Sip & Savor, not a day goes by without using Google in some capacity – to find a news article, check a fact or two, the list goes on. Today we’re going to share an interesting tidbit of how, six years ago on this very day, something we care about very much - beverages – crossed paths with Google. Hoax or not, it definitely had some folks going.
On April Fool’s Day, Google has been known to play a trick on its users – you can check out a list of them on Wikipedia. So on April 1, 2005, Google introduced “Google Gulp.” According to the website, “Google Gulp (BETA)™ with Auto-Drink™ (LIMITED RELEASE)” was a “line of ‘smart drinks’ designed to maximize your surfing efficiency by making you more intelligent, and less thirsty.”
So today, be wary and try not to be gullible. And remember, pulling pranks on your friends, family and colleagues may have you breaking out in a sweat – so remember to hydrate with something other than the fictitious Google Gulp!
