No doubt you've heard of discerning palettes gathering to judge food and wine competitions. This weekend, an event a little more up Sip & Savor's alley will take place - The Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting. Believe it or not, the competition, which is the longest running and largest of its kind in the world, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
Now we know there are folks out there who believe water is just water, or who think that bottled water is just "bottled tap water." But we know otherwise - and obviously the judges, participants and attendees at this event agree. After all, there are many different types of water: municipal or tap, spring, purified - which can begin with municipal or spring sources, artesian, mineral, sparkling. ABA's member companies make a wide variety of bottled water and water beverages. You can check them out on our Web site.
As far as this weekend's tasting, all events are free and open to the public. So if you're able, take a trip out to Berkeley Springs, W.Va. You just might make it in time for the "water rush," the final event of the weekend where spectators get the opportunity to grab as many sample bottles as they can. But if you make it and nab a few, don't forget to recycle those containers! Think Inside the Bin!
