In recent years, obesity has been a growing concern for many cities across America. Everyone wants their community members to live healthy, happy and prosperous lives. This begins with education about balanced living, which gives individuals the knowledge and information to make informed choices about what they eat and drink.

Since 2012, The United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) and the American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America (ABFHA) have been working together to tackle the issue of childhood obesity. Through grants awarded to cities that take initiative in solving this challenge, and promoting public awareness and best practices, the USCM and ABFHA are committed to being a part of the solution. Over the course of the 6-year grant program, 35 cities have been awarded a portion of $2.6 million to help fund public awareness programs.

We’ve blogged about many of the recipients of the Childhood Obesity Prevention Grants and what’s interesting is that diversity of programs that have been recognized.  ABFHA is excited to continue working with the USCM to promote balanced living in cities across America.
