This week, the United State Senate and House of Representatives passed the 2018 Farm Bill. This important piece of bi-partisan legislation is now making its way to the President’s desk for signature. The American Beverage Association would like to recognize the importance of the bill’s passage and to salute Congress for its hard work and bipartisan cooperation.
The Farm Bill is the federal government’s main tool for agriculture and food policy. It was first passed in 1933, and Congress votes on its renewal every five years. Past farm bills have included titles on commodity programs, trade, rural development, farm credit, conservation, agricultural research, food and nutrition programs and marketing. It provides support for farmers around the country, creating more certainty for growers and food producers.
The American Beverage Association congratulates Members of the House and Senate Agriculture Committees, as well as the food growers and producers in communities around the country who will benefit from the farm bill.
