Did you know that America’s beverage companies are working together to achieve a circular economy? Through our voluntary Every Bottle Back initiative, we are using intentional design, modernization of recycling infrastructures and education to get there.
Our plastic bottles are made to be remade. We are carefully designing them to be 100% recyclable – even the caps. Our goal is for every bottle to become a new bottle, and not end up in places they don’t belong like oceans, rivers, beaches, or as waste in landfills. And that means we are using less new plastic.
But for the bottles to be remade, we need to get them back. In conjunction with The Recycling Partnership and Closed Loop Partners, we are working with communities to invest in recycling infrastructure. We are guiding a $400 million investment that will help improve sorting, processing and collection in areas with the biggest infrastructure gaps to help increase the amount of recycled plastic available to be remade into beverage bottles.
We’ve launched a public awareness campaign to help consumers better understand the value of our 100% recyclable bottles and reinforce the importance of getting these bottles back so they can be remade into new bottles. Part of this campaign is to place a reminder on our bottles that they are 100% recyclable.
All of this work will be measured by World Wildlife Fund’s ReSource: Plastic platform so that we ensure we’re protecting the planet by reducing our plastic footprint.
